DEMO in Grand Hall at ACPL Main Library
Free and open to the public!
THURSDAY, AUG 5 — 7:00-8:00 PM
SCFC Fencers: Caleb S, Steve K, Jacob M
==========
Presentation: The SCFC has one or more representatives at a social function, manning a booth or a desk of some sort. Members may dress in equipment or wear a club t-shirt. Expected to hand out flyers or business cards, as well as answer questions about the SCFC.
Demonstration: A demo involves two to four SCFC fencers who will talk about the club and fence with each other in order to demonstrate the sport. The fencers will bring along a half dozen masks, gloves, and weapons so that participants can try them on and “take a stab” at the experienced fencers. Again, members are expected to hand out flyers or business cards, as well as answer questions about the SCFC. Donations from participants are appreciated!
Workshop: A workshop involves two or three experienced fencers hauling a lot of equipment to another site, including jackets. Fencers will act as instructors, showing students the bare basics about footwork and bladework. Because this involved more effort and because actual teaching takes place, there is a small cost attached to hosting a workshop. Prices can vary according to length and number of participants, but the default price is $65.00 for one hour. Additional donations from participants are appreciated!
E-mail scfc@summitcityfencing.org if you would like to set up a presentation, demo, or workshop!
Please note that, as much as possible, we try to schedule these activities for Monday afternoons or evenings.
