Mock Event at Glenbrook on Sat, 3/19

In the interests of giving our members a heads-up on what to expect at the local USFA tournament on March 26 and to drum up interest in our Intro classes, the SCFC will be hosting a mock tournament on Saturday, March 19, at our usual location in Glenbrook Square Mall.  Please leave a comment saying which weapons you would fence in order of preference.

You don’t have to put all three, you can just put one or two weapons.  Please leave a comment only if you can definitely do it!  It will be a lame demonstration at the mall if we only have a couple competitors in an event, we need firm commitments.  Since this is a mock event, it will be free to all participants.  This might also be a very good chance to practice refereeing in a tournament-style environment.

Tentative start times, based on commitments ahead of time, will be as follows:
FOIL — 11:40 AM – 1:30 PM

  • Brian K. (Ball State), Alan D, Paul O, Jacob M, Caleb S, Geoff P, Nancy F, Kate J (BSU), Becca B.

SABER — 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM

  • Steve K, Jacob M, Brian K, Alan D, Caleb S, Geoff P, Nancy F.
Willing to fence if needed: Paul O.

EPEE — 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM

  • Steve K, Sam A, Brian K, Jacob M, Becca B.

(Please note the new start times, as of 3/16/11.  Will edit the start times accordingly if the number of registrations continues to rise.)

I will do some sabre if you need more people to fence it. Just let me know ahead of time so I can grab sabre gear.

I will also pass the word on to other BSU fencers, but they are all on Spring Break this week, so it won’t be until that week.
